Camp Winder Hospital June 28.18.63
Dear father I take my Seate to let you no
i am gitting nearly well only i have a very
bade Risen under my arm hoping these
few lines when comes to hand may find
you and family all well i have nothing of
interest to write i Receivede your letter the
3 of June dated may the 26 i was very glad to
hear from you to hear you was all well i
was truly sorry to hear Brother Nathan
was Sick i was very glad to hear Nathan
had got home our hole army is in
marland again i under Stande Some of
our army is in Pennsylvania and the
Report ses lee is in 4 miles of washington
tha captured milroy and his in tire army
the yankee cavlary is flying Round
about Richmond tha had a Right smart
Skirmish on the 26 near hanover junction
About 30 miles from Richmond the
trains on that Roade has Stop untill futher
orders

though we are whiping the yankees about
Right ever time tha is good many Sick
and wounded hear now good many has
been transferede to other hospitals good many
furlough and dying i never saw any
thing like the way tha are dying hear
our fair hear is not very good it is
not fit for well men to eate we git
pease loaf breade old fat bacon onfresh beef
and Rice i am gitting very tired ofit but i
can not help myselfe i want the war to
come to a close So i can come home again
to Stay i dont See no Sign of peace hear
how was your crop this season i under
stand you have been very dry hear this
summer give my love and best Respects
to grand father and ant martha mother i
should like to take dinner with you
next Sundy if you would have a big
dish of greens nothing more write soon
