Dear father ever thing is mightley
confused hear about Richmond at
this time the yankees is in Six
miles of Richmonde tha have orderd
out all the malitia in Richmond
and all the Sick in the hospitals that
is able to use a gune tha have taken
the wards masters and nurses my
arm is so sour i can not use a gune
the yankees took two companys
and all ther officers and Lietent Colonel
at the South ann[a] bridge about 30
miles from Richmonde i would not
be Surprise if the yankees was
to try to come in to Richmonde
before long ever thing is so confuse
hear i dont no as you will git
this letter if you do i want you to

chickens is worth from 2.50 to 3.00
Dollars a peace eggs 2.50 to 3.00 Dollars
per dozen fresh beefe or muton
is worth 1.50 to 2.00 Dollars per lbs
molases from 10 to 12 Dollars per
gallon ever thing elce in propotion
milk 50 to 75 cts per quart so
nothing more at this time
