H. F. Rudasil Letter

H. F. Rudasil (b. ca. 1847 in Rowan Co.) was a Davie County, North Carolina farmer and served as a private in Co. G, 4th North Carolina Infantry. The family name was also spelled Rudicil and Rudecell in census and service records. At the time of the 1860 Federal Census, Rudasil and his wife, Martha (b. ca. 1849) were living in the Hunting Creek District of Davie County. Rudasil was wounded at Chancellorsville on May 3, 1863 anddischarged because of his wounds in December 1863. Rudasil survived the war and in 1870 were living in Davie County with their three young children.
