Near Garys burg
Nov the 23th
Dear Miss
It is with pleasure I seat my
self this morning to drop
you a fiew lines to let you
know that i am well at
Present hoping when those
fiew lines comes to hand
may find you well i received
your kind letter yesterday
which give me great pleasure
to here from you but i
would rather see you than
any of your letters if I could
I have bin on the scout
for the last two weeks
we will see heard times we
didnt get half anoug to
eat for us & our horses

I got one potatoe for supper
and one for [???] morning so
that was all we got for too
days & nights & you know
we see heard times here
& all our travels we dident
get in to nary fight but
I was in hopes we would
get in to a fight we have
tuck winter quarters here
at the same old camping plase
close to garysburg Nc the
rest of our catawba squad
is all well at this time
but not very well satisfied
i have bin in Va on the
scout & i dont want
to go their no more soon

have bin in two miles
of Jeruselam & I would
love to a went their to a
see they place but I
think if i had a
went their i would
a staid their but
Jeruselam I am a talk
ing about is in va clost
to black water i got that
present you sent to me
and the first chance
or opportunity I get
i will get my type
takeing & i will send
it to you and i dont
no when i will get

the girls i wouldent
