Dear Miss
It is with pleasure
I seat my self to let you
know that I am well at this
time I hope those fiew lines
may find you well & ding
well I haint got mutch
nuse to rite only our men
is throwing up brestwork
very fast .5. miles below
kinston & the yankeys
ware building a railroad
from newborn to kinston
& our regiment went &
tore the railroad up &
burnt the crostyes & railen
up for a 6 or 7 miles & [stay?]
went back yesterday again

& I haint what they dun
& I went yesterday 13 Miles down
torge [1] newbern to carry a
dispatch & our boys said that
the yankeys said they ware
comeing up to see us be four
long & i think if they
come they will get a nother
whiping our men has block
aided the river so that the
gunboats caint get up the
river to shell the town &
so they caint
go up to Goldsboro Miss
I haint got mutch
time to rite for the
train is comeing & i want
to start the letter you
