thats all the guard duty
that I have did. I begin
to feal kinder sheapish we
have got orders to move tomorrow
and I am going with them
no one knowes where we
ar going withouts the bit
Officers I suppose they know.
Jim Chase is going to the
Hospital again I suppose
I could if I had wanted to
but I’d rather so with the
Co.: I’ll tell you what the
privates think they think we
ar going on a little rade
we take 4 days rations and
two days forage: well Gilmore
is doing pretty well down to
Charleston and so is Rosencrance [1]
and Burnside out in the
south west I think the
Rebs ar going up a pretty
[page 3]
good jog dont you it
seams as tho the war mus
must end this winter:
you wrote about Wes being
over there with his girl
howe who is she. I got a letter
from George Perley he wrote
that Wes had bin up there
with her: he says that
onley Alfred Lamb was accepted
and he payed the cash Charles
got off on account of taking
care of the old folks. I think
it had aught to be the other
way the old folks have to
take care of him and his
pretty wife it seames that
uncle Leander was drafted
but was exempted.
how does Nellie and Gusta
getalong do they make their
sails jibe well. I hear
that Mand is going to the
[page 4]
Factory again if she does
you will have to get some
one else to ride round
with well I guess you can
find one some where:
Soule is detaled in the
pionear Corps George
is all right and so is
George Royal I donot know
of aney news to write send
some stamps if you please
I have got to borrow one to
send this: if we should
happen to get into a fus with
the Rebs I shouldent be
in a vary good condition
to defend my self for all
I have got in the shape of
arms is my old sabre I
shouldent wonder if they sent me
back with old horses as there
is a number of old sorebacks
in the Co. well I will close
write soon & good day
