Dear Sister
I take this oppertunity
as Im and out on picket
to day we Come out last night
and expect to go in to night
I am pretty Smart my leg
trubbles me som yet but I have
not had to march but little
as yet we moved from front
of peterburg down a bout nine
or ten miles down to popular
grove Church where we are a billdig
[Brest?] work, we had a little
fight the 2 and 3 days of Oct
and drove the Johneys back towe or
three miles we had quite number
killed and wounded

we have had pretty rainy time of
fit for a day or two three of us
went out on picket the first day
of oct and staid forty eigh hour when
we come in our Regiment had
Gone so we over took the them [????] the [?] a bout
8 O clock at night I then got
your letters and was Glad to
here from you th [H?]
I got that tobacco and razor that
Joseph sent me I wish he had
had it fir it wont cut Butter
with out you heat it
red hot and I dont know wether
it would then or not
I want you to keep incount
what it Cost for what you send
one did it not Cost me any
more than [?] Cents to send that
tobacco and razor there was a
five cent and a two cent
Stamp on it

I answered Joseph and Westley
letter as soon as
I got them

about thomas Holmes I never
have hearn any thing nor seen
any thing of him I guess that
he hant up this way
O ted tell John Gordrich
that he shall have my [Nancy?]
any way I am very sorrow to here
that Uncle william is so bad
of[f] tell Angelea that I hant
Got that letter yet but I am
a looking for it every day and
shall untill I get it
how Come George Moor in
the Hospital in Charlestown
I Cant see in to that I tell
Angelea that I am verry sorrow
that she is a goiing a way I am
a fraid that I shant get that
letter O that traveling Bag
I brought it out here and I sold
it for fifty Cent I could not lug it
