Harrisons VA
Wensday Agust 6th
1862
Dear Sister
I recieved
your welcome letter last night
your letter found me
in good helth in return
I hope these few lines
will find you and the
all the rest enjoying the
same I have not much
news of any important to
write this time. our men
have advanced a boat 8 miles
toards Richmond Sedwicks
division has gorn my Regt
has gorn to but I did not
go I am staying in the

Camp yet I did not
on acoant of my soar
toe I have get a very
soar toe but its geting better
now I went up to the
mill pond the other
day to bath myself I jump
into the water and as good luck
would have it I came out
with a bleeding toe. but as
I said before our men had
advanced toards Richmond
but they have not had any
fighting yet our men took
severel prisners I doant expect
they will advance any further
untill we get reanforced
the rebel prisners wer very
glad to get inside of our
lines they say that they do
not wish to be exchanged
back they say they had rather

take the oath of elegency
or be relased on parole they
say they have got enough
of the war I think they
are as tired of the war
as my self think if they
Would let the soldiers
of boath armeys meet and
have a cornflab they would
settle it in some shape
O hannah have you got that
letter that I sent a pictor
of the old house I wrote in
that letter that I wanted you
to send me your likeness if
you could for this one that
I have got is all moast
spoilt if you will send me a
nother I will send you the
one that I have got and let
you see how it look
no more from me this
time I shell try to write
