Saturday oct 4th 1862

My Dear Darling Sister

I recieved your
wellcome letter last night your
letter found me in good helth
and as I shell not write but
a few lines I hope they will
find you the same I have not
got news sence I wrote my
last letter to you I wrote you
a letter the other day giving the
full acount of the battle & so [&?]
you wanted me to write what
things I wanted you to send
to me I have maid out a list
of what things I shall
want you to send to me you can

send me what you have a
mineto you know Sarah wrote that
you had got some yarn to
knit me some stockings I do
not as I neade them now I have
got three good pair now and the
weather is not very cold here
yet we have very hot day now
I should like to have you send
the box before you would have
time to nit the stokings the
quicker you send it the better
if you send it while we are
here I should be likely to get
it without any trouble if you send
it by Adams express you can send
it to harpers ferry their offices is
a bout a ½ mile from our camp please
write as soon as you get this letter
and let me know how long before
you will have it ready to send hury it up
that is all about [my?] box

O hannah you said you was
agoing to have your likeness
taken and send it in the
box if you have not got it
taken yet I wish you and
cousin Sarah would have
your likenesses taken to
gather if Sarah will do so
I should be very hapy to
have them.
I want you to send me
some thread & kneedles
and some yarn and a big darning
kneedle to darn my stockings
by goodish I bets I can darn better-
esh good you Miss hannah I galss
what I have writen will do for
this time give my love to all
the folks good by untill you here
