ST Helena IS Feb the 21. 1863
Dear Parents As it is about a
week since i wrote i thought it was
about time to write agan i My helth
is good at this time though i have
bin quite sick & i had the dierree: and
i went to the doctor and he gave
me a mustard poltace to put on
bwels that dident do eny good: and
i went agan: and he gave me about
a gil of Caster:oil and that don me
a good:deal of good i had a great deal
of pain and that stoped it. it is
owing to the water i suppose the water
smells very bad. it ant much like yours
- does the water run as good as ever
I Often think of it and many other
things – Now have you got eny of those
letters that i wrote when i was on
board the ship for i wrote quite a
number but i havent wrote but
once before since i came on land

though i havent bin on land but
a fortnet so you cant expect much
knews you must write that for i
cant get much the most i have
hurd was that they wer going to raising
men by Conscription takeing men
betweixt sertain ages – have you hurd
enything about it the next is that
i hurd that there was a male got
in to day i hope so and i shall
get them picturs that you sed you
was going to send in your next
letter now i must draw to a close
for i have wrote all the knews
and you must do the same
