Aug 20 Camp Stanton Linfield [1862]
Dear wife i Sit down to write you a
few lines to let you no that i am well
Some of the boys are not verey well but
will stend to there duty wee Shall have
our uniforms to day i expect the[y] talk
that our regiment is going to march to
Linn to day i do not think we Shall
move from our Camo for three or four
days wee was mistered in the 35 rege
yesterday at 12 ½ o clock 18 of us was
detailed on guard yesterday to stand
reday to be called upon for 24 hours i was
on from 10 to 12 and 4 to 6 o clock
from 4 to 6 tow of us stood the end of
Porch of the big bulding at the entrance
one man come tow us tite and said
he must go on wee said not without
Pass but he b[r]oke guard i caught by the
arms and held till the officiers got
hold of him

to the guard house he jumped
out the window cairied
him in again jumped out
again carried him in tied
him we had ourders
to charge if he caime again
i want to no which way
the wind is our in green

expect see him again

things as soon as we can
