Dear mary I take this Chance to let you now that I am
Well at present and I hope and pray that you ar all
ingoying the same blessing Dear Mary I received
you letter the 27 of last Month I was rejoyst
to here from you I thought you had forgot me
but When I red your letter Could not blame
you one bit I expect the little ones is
a great deal of troubel but Moley you
must not fault me for Wanting to here
often from you Mary I feel
mity sory for you because you feel lonsom
and lost about me Mary I have lost a meny
a long Weary hours sleep thinking about
you some night I dont sleep hardly eny
thinking you and all the rest but Mary
I Want you to get along the best you can
that is the gretest trile I have is that I Know
that you ar interest about me Dear Mary I
Know it is a hard trile I no it Works me up
purty bad you now I nevr Was away long

We ar a going to Wenchester to Morrow
to have a big fight their is four brgads
to be their banks [1] crosed the river last
nite 25 miles below us With
30 000 Men on the rode to Winchester
the news is to day that MacCleland [2] is
to be our commander
their in person Mary I think We Will
giv the rebels a good thrashing and that
Will settel them in this Country their
Will not be less 200 000 men in the
fite Mary rite soon now dont fail
if you Cant rite mutch at a time
