Dear mary I once more sit down to rite you a few lines to let
you know that I am Well and in good spirets Mary I received
your letter on the 5th of and Was very glad to here from you
Mary I got the papers you sent to me and Was very thankful to
you but Mary it takes them so long to get here that
they are old We get some papers to read Mary We have moved
from Camp Chais We ar about 50 miles east of their We still
[R??]on the track of the rebels We ar moving to Ward Winchester
I dont no Whether they will run again or not We rode 27 Miles
on the Cars When we cum here yesterday We started yesterday
at 2 oClock and got Within a half Mile of here last night
I never Was so tiard in my life I had to stop and rest

a While on the rod We had to cary such a hevy lode We had
a nap sack haver sack gun catridg box and to blankets
We Walked 17 miles from 2 oClock til nite you may no Whether
We Was not tuckerd or not their Was to other regaments and 51
files of cannon With us on the march We crosed over a battel
field on our March it is Cald farfax Crick I saw Whair
a Cannon ball had past through a brick house and cut
the top off a tree the town that We are in now larger than
urbana and mor than half of the peepel has left it their
is 53 rail road ingins here that he rebels has destroyed
by fire and all the ralrod houses is burnt it has bin
a great plase the rebels left here 8 days a go

as I was Mary you must take good Cair of the babes
