Camp Dennison
Tuesday Feb the 25th 1852

My Dear Wife

I now take this time to write you a few lines
to let you know that I am well and hope these
few lines will find you the same my eyes are not
well yet but they are better than they was
when I wrote you last We are to be mustered for
pay next Friday and mustered into the United
States service I dont know whether we will get
our pay on Friday or not but hope we will I dont
know whether we will be armed & sent into the
Field or discharged & sent home but I hardly think
that they will discharge us but there is a good many
that that think that we will be home in the corse
of Ten or Fifteen days but I dont believe it but we
can tell better after election I have got Edies ring
done and sent it in this letter I hope it will not
get broke & hope it will fit for it is a nice little ring
& it took me a good while to make it she will

to be pretty carful of it or she will brake it I left it
quite heavy so it would not be as apt to brake tell Edie
that I made it for her We expect the other battalion to come
into camp from Hillsburow tomorow you know they
were to be here when got here well they never come
but I guess they will tomorow & I think we will
know what will be done with us soon I hope
to that we will get some pay so I can send you
some money for I know you must need it badly
if I knew where I could borow some I would get
it and send it to you but I dont it seems as if
we must get our pay soon & we will after we
are mustered into the United States Service
well I cant write much this time but will write
more the next time I thought I should get a letter from
you today but did not well maby it will com tomorow
I hope so nothing more at this time
