Camp at Potomac Station VA
May 29th 1863

My Dear Wife
It is with pleasure that I now sit
down to write you a few lines to let
you know that I am well and hope
these few lines will find you the same
I have just got back from Aquia
landing where we went after horses
we had a dusty time of it I asure you
the roads are real dusty now and it
is very warm weather I dont know
but I like the winter campaign as
well as I do the summer
our regt is at Bealton Station about
thirty miles from here so we do not
get any letters at all I dont know
when we will get to the regt
again I hope soon for I want a
letter or two
[page 2]
if you do not get letters from me as
soon as you used to get them
or as often you need not be alarmed
for we will be on the move and perhaps
be where we can not send letters
out
I thought as I had this sheet of
paper that was painted I would
send it to Edie in an Envelop to
match I suppose she will be tickeled
to get a letter will I cant write
any more just now so I will
close by hopeing to hear from you
soon yours affectionately
