My dear friends
I take the present opportunity
to inform you that I am well
at present hoping these few
lines may find you the same
and futher I received your
letter today and was glad
to hear once more from center
ville & futher I am now
driving team I have got
six mules if you was here
you could see a jack ass ride
a mule with his pants
in his boots I got my team
on the 2 of Apr at Golds
borrough and haled a load
of hard bread to Raleigh
that is sixty miles I arived
on the 15 I am still at Raleigh
but I hear we will soon
move again we had verry
bad roads coming up here
and we were attacked by

guriles three times
but they only got two teams
& four gards but they gote
a good many from the 23
corps but we make clan
work as we go we burn
all the buildings and
take all they have got I
like teaming better than
soldiering I hope I need
not face the canon I have
got a better place to sleep
than I had but still not
so good as against a womans
bare legs & About my box
I never got it nor that
money that [Isaac?] Gish sent
me but I gess he sent it
by registerd for there was
money a washington for me
and the dont send it to
the army & I think the
game is soon played and

I here that Johnson has
surendered there are a great

verry nice screw cut rifle
I am going to bring it along
home if I can the weather

we are in the old 10 corps
again & Henry Brandt is
in the company again I
