Dear Brother I take
my pen in hand to
let you know that I
am well at present
Hoping these few lines
will find you in
the same state of Health
and futher I let you
know that I received
your letter about ten
minutes ago and was
very glad to hear from
you and I was over
to see peter and
he is well to and
likes it well and
I seen levi Bux and
he is well to and
I got one letter
[Page 2]
from [ju?]nes since
he is out and
he likes it well but he
would like it better at
home and they have to
go on picket very often
and they have about
twelve miles to so go[st?]ill
and I heard that you
were at hughterring this
winter and let me
know at how many
sales you were and how
much clear money you
made and dont let the
bottle be empty when
I come home for I am
very dry and the next
time take a lantern
when you go across the
sacksakelough creek
so that you wont fall
in again
[Page 3]
and let me know
how it made at
deamers party and how
many girls were there
and let me know who
goes to see sarah now
and send me the true
accounts of that
wether you think I
will stand yet when
I come home and I expect
to see you before long
if the rebels dont get
stubern
I must come to a
close write soon
