Dear wife i have taking the pleasure this Morning for
to Drop you afew lines to inform you that i am well at the
present my health is Just midlin i am not any to Good in
health Further But i hope that these few lines may Find
you in A better State of health than i am Further i
Will inform you that Whe have not been in Any battle
so far And i hope that i or any of the rest may not see
any But i do Believe that Whe will Git to see a
hard Battle fort [1] yet For the Army is Gone up to
Richmond they are bound to take it And they have
taking Solgers up that is free till [2] the 16 of June and
they must fite yet And they have taking Some more force
from our fort yorktown Some Canons And aboat load
of Wheel Barrows and Shuvles and nearly all the ne
grous from here for to Go up for to throw up intrench
ments And there Was 16 gunboats Went past here
yesterday With Solgers on Some had a thousand men
on and Some had more and 15 thousand Went up the
James river for to Go to Richmond And last nite a lot
Past here for to Go up And the 179th Regt draf
ted men Was to leaf here to day the poor drafted
men it appears that Whe must betried And a lot
of them has been in a hard battle But they
Gained it the others of the drafted men lays under
marching orders that is here And one lays on the
Battle Ground at Williamsburg only 10 miles from us
they do not know how Sune that the Rebs Will
fire on them But sofar as they have been this
spring our men has been the Winners all along and
the rebles are tyred of it Further if katy is With
you i think that you may Send abox for Aaron
But send things or Elce i would do with out

Envelopes Wich you did Send to me the first box

i have no ob Jections to Some pies or Cakes if you wish
to Give us Some And if you do Send Butter i
Wish you to Git a tin Can made With a lid
that Will hold about Eight pound of butter or
more So then it Will not melt and Shut it up
tite and if you do Send Eggs you must put them in
one of those Small Bee boxes And put it in Side
of the big box Send them With out Cooking Sos
Whe Can Cook them And i Wish for 1 pound of
Good twist tobacgo for i am out of tobacgo So
nou i have told you of All that i Wish for
So you may Just Send to me Just What you
[like?] For me for i am Satisfied for i knou that
you Will Send any thing that i Wish for for my
part i do not Care of any thing more then i
have stated to you But Just Send me Just
What you pleas But let me have 1 pound of
tobacgo and Six sheets of paper and 12 Green envel
opes And be Sure to Send those things that
Aaron Wants or he will not be pleased for he
Needs them i must take more paper for to answer
