you Know that there was a Soldier here that had enlisted for A
month he was in the nine month Service and he was in the
battle at fredericksburg in that large battle but he can talk
he had been here only a little over an hour i only wished he
could have stayed here longer to find out more his name was
Henry Knull tell Aaron About it he knew Henry Knull
so well he is a brother to George Knull and Aaron Knew
George so well Henry is the one that Lived at uncle John Swei
gards a number of years he was young yet when he left John
Sweigards we had worked together many many a day he seemed
just like a brother he said he came to see the friends he owns
us as friends he is also a brother to Henry Jurys Wife he couldent
go to see uncle Johny Sweigards the time was to short and it spited
[Page 2]
uncle Johns very much that he dident get up to see them he said
they came free to Harrisburg but from there they had to pay there
fair but just half price he said he got a through ticket and
then he only had a short time to visit his acquaintances and friends
he said that they fought wonderfull the rebels at one time
had taken 20 of our mens cannons and shot our men down
with them but than our men got the [sweep?] again and got
double the Amount of canons Again he said when the 11
corps broke once than they had hard times they must have
fought hared so no more of this my dear husband now
i must Also let you know a little About the weather it
is very dry the roads is very dusty and it is very warm
it had been cloudy Last monday and tuesday but still
we got no rain if we get no rain before long there will not
be much hay or much of any thing but the Lord doeth all things
right my Dear Lover you had stated in your Letter which you wrote
the 24 th that the butter crock was broke i suppose youns have
to get a crock or something to put the butter in and take good
Care so when youns eat butter that no such little peaces of
the crock sticks in the butter if such little peaces or such
fine stuff of the crock sticks in the butter scrape it clean
of so that youns eat none of it i am sorry that it was broke
for you but Still i am glad that every thing was as nice as what
it was it was packed in such a hurry or perhaps we might
have packed it better so the crock might not have been broken
for you but youns must do the best you can with the butter and
about the pills and oil you nearly thought right about it i was
