Dear Sister I take
The plessure to inform you that I received your letter
yesterday stating that you was well and all the rest
where on good standing. I must state to you that
whe stil remain at this butiful plase and expect
to stay here until our time is out I must state
to you that the pekets we had sent out for the
lenth of ten days time has been releaved and
A lot of others sent out in thare plase but thay
was wery sorry that they had to leve thare post
thay say that thay would sooner due picket duty
then camp duty for it is much easier and A nother
thing they had A house to go in the picket post
ar from two to tree miles Apart and thare is from
eighteen to twenty on one post the resen thay ar
so far A part is this it is write along the river
and the rebels cant land at anny other plase but
at these pickets post on the account
of the Marshy plasis and swampy deserts for thay
would sink in the mud up to thare neks I havent
been out at this plase by I expect to go out the next [time?] [1]
