Camp Beaufort South Carolina Mar 25th : 1863
Miss Saluma W. Gilmer
Dear sister I take the opper=
=tunity of riting to you to let you know that I
received your kind letter dated the eightteenth of
March with much plessure we stil remain at
this butiful city of beaufort and expect to stay
here. I must tel you that I have it quite comfor=
=table for I dont get on duty but once in two weeks
weeks and then I neade not stand on the post
for my duty is to put them on and in two hours
to releve them then I am clear for the next four
hours then my releaf comes on Again I am
well and harty and hope that these few lines
may find you all the same
you stated to me that Miss Warras and Mrs Fulmer
had yong ears but I think thars is more
on the [wroad?] Miss Wanluvenina Daughter
that is Levi Otts girl must have a young soul=
=dier boy Miss Dehila Stinar must have one
too and Miss Matilda Shivler another and
Mr Samuel Heaney Daughter must have
Joseph Bedenhouse and if that is the way they
make souldiers whe can soon come home
you dont give me anny news of tinecum
I must give it to you for you ar so far
Away from tinicum that you dont here anny

I must state to you that Captain Harras
received the doylestown democrat paper
dated March the 17 and we could read the
hole particulars about the draft and so on
and you may well beleve it was read for
thare is plenty of readers in the army. I must
state to you that I have so much to write
to anser to all these letters that I am tyerd
of writing. but you must not take this as if
I dedent want you to write
plese tel John W Gilmer to give me all particulars
of boating for I think boating will be good
this sumer
plese give me some information of my dog
Joseph and my gun so that she dont rust
and tel Malinda to take good care of her
yong souldier
and plese tel Lavina to write to me and
give me some better news. I dont know
what more to ask or else I would give
