Beaufort South Carolina May 11 1863
Dear sister
I take the oppertunity of riting
these few lines to let you know that I am well
once more and hope that these few lines may
find you and all the rest injoying the same
belssing I was in the hospittel the second time
but the last time when I was in I diddent lay
in bed but one day and the resin of that was
the Meddesin sickened me so as to put me to bed
one day and the rest of the time I was up and
about. my desiece was something like the dum
ague I am with my company once more and hope
to remain with them
I must state to you that Michel buck is in
the hospittel at the city of beaufort with the bibli=
=ous fever but is getting better fast and Jerrome
buck was taken to the rigamental hospittel
yesterday his complaint is somthing like the dum
ague and I must state to you that Joseph
redenhouse had taken a bad cold and it
setteled on his lungs and he could not get
it removed and they sent him of[f] for philade=
=lphia and from thare I sopose he will get a pass
for home or quite likely his discharge
I must state that we all injoy souldering quite
well only it is wery warm here and our only
disipontment is the swarms of knats and
Mosketoes wich neerly eat us up
We stil remain here til our time is up. I havent
any news to give you about the war or anny
thing Else or else I would write more

I would like to know weather Lavina received
that dimond ring I sent to her and them
cotton seed wich I sent in the same letter
and I also sent you some cotton about the
same time and havent received no anser
to eather letter plese write soon and let
me know about it so no more
