Sept 18 the 1863
Camp near Culpeper Corthouse Va
Dear Mother I received your
kind and well[c]omed letter last
evening and I was verry glad
to hear from you but I am
sorry to hear that you are
not well yacht. I am
well at presant and I hope
these few lines will Find you
all enjoying the good health
we are again on a line of
march we left New Baltimore
on the night of the 15th inst
we are about thirty miles
from the latter. we got to
this plais yesderday morning
but what the idea is of
coming here I am not aware of
but I sopos thay are agoing to attact
the Johneys it is reportet that
the Johneys are falling back to

wards Richmond. we are
Camped in the woods about
three miles from Culpeper
in a verry wild looking
country and it is raining all
morning and rained nearly
all day yesderday.
Dear Mother I am still serveing
the Lord and I hope if
if we hand spaired to
see each other in this
world that we shall
meat in a better world
we must live in hopes
and trust in him who is
master over all.
I dont know much to
write to you this time
perhaps Ill know more next
time I write.
Dear Mother pray for me
and I pray for you.

I think we will get
paid one these days
nearly all the rest of the
troops are paid already
then Ill sent some twenty
Dollars to you.
So no more at presant
write soon So much
