Camp near Brandy Station Va..
Dear Mother I Will now
write a few lines to you to let
you know that I am well at
presant and hope you are the same
I will sent five Dollars to you
in this letter I have sent
ten dollars yesderday with the
paymaster and I dident
like to sent it all
for fear it might get lost
we heard some heavy Canonateing
in our front this morning it
is reportet here that the enomy
made a rade on our men and
that our follows Capturet a hole
Brigade of them. how true it is
I dont know so no more at presant
