March 1 the 1864
Camp near Brandy Station
Dear Mother
I received your kind
and wellcom letter
last night and I was glad
to hear that you are
well I am also enjoying
good health.
you requestet me if i
would get free with
the Regt or if I had to
Serve my three years I
think I will hafto
Serve three years as the
law is now perhaps
thay may Chainge it.
our Corps is on a
march now thay are
goen four days now
and last night it
commanced to rain

and hail and rained
all last night and
it is near night now
and hand stopt yacht
and the poor fellows
has no tents or Blankets
with them thay must
Suffer awfuly. how
glad I am that I hand
with them I am here
in my tent as comfortable
as if I was at home
this forenoon I cooked
beef and been soop
we have plenty to eat
now days I am at the
Brigade train yacht
and there is only
six wagons goen
off our Brigade and
so we had to stay
to gard the rest
of the train our Regt

is all goen out
but a few deatbeets
are left to gard the
camp we havent
heard any thing from
the front yacht
I have sent a letter
to you withe eight
dollars and a small
book that I have no
answer of yacht
you must write often
for I am always
anxious to hear from
home Dear Mother pray
for me and I will
pray for you
so no more at presant
I will remain
your affectionate
