May 3th 1864
Camp near Brandy Station
Dear Mother
I will now write a few
lines to you for I may not
have an opertunity to write
for some time I think
thay wont take any mail
out for some time till
this campain is over we
moved yesderdy but it
was no General thing but
to morrow morning
morning we are
going for good and all
and I think there will
be a gread fight in a
fiew days but I am lucky
enough to have the chance
to stay out I hop our
men will be successful
but I dout it for Lees

position is verry strong yacht
we may have force enough
to dislodge them.
I havent received a letter
for some time of any one
and it may probably be two
or three weeks for another
mail comes to us.
I hope this war will be
close this summer that we can
live in peese onst more
Dear Mother I am well
at presant and I hope these
few lines will find you
the same P.S. write soon
pray for me and I will
pray for you and hope the
Lord will spair us to meet
onst more for long if not
in this world I hope we
will meet in a world
where parting is no more

wen I was makeing the last

you thought I dident received
your letter I did receive one
about two weeks ago Just
