Dear Sister
I received your most wellcom
letter to day and there is but
a short time for the mail
goes out a gain I cant write
agreaddeal this time
we have moved sins the last
time I wrote to you and
there has also been a little
fighting going on but it was
ent of much account the
infantry dident get engaged
it was mearly a cavelry fight
to day there was to be a review
of our Corps but it is raining
now and I think it wont
come off. Some of our army
here have got orders to
build comfortable log huts but
[page 2]
we havent received any
order to that affect the
talk is here that our Division
was to go off on some Dedatched duty
two Brigades was to go to Ohio
and one to gard the Winchester
railroad but my idea is
that our corps will go to
Peters Burg yacht for thay
are satisfied but I hope not
I dont like that spot
we may remain here we dont
know till we see for ourselves
we have had midlen fine
weather so far it has been
a little cold a fiew knights
but not a cold as I spose it
is up north
my time in the army is
getting short now only nine
month from to morrow
if I get as luckey thrue
them nine months as
[page 3]
I have thrue the last
twenty seven I can call
my self a luckey man
five out of the nine will
be in winter quarters
I spose and if the war
wont be settled I will
have four month hard
campain If I live and be
well which I hope I
will three years is a
long time to live in a
bit of a canves house
and many times not that
much but for all that
I never enjoyed two years
better health then I have here
in the army. So no more
at presant write soon
for I am always looking for
letters I am well and hope
you are all the Same
[page 4]
So much from your affectionate
Brother
