Dear parents
I Seat my Self with pleshure
to pen you a fieu lines in return
to your welcome letter of the 26th
July. from which I was pleased to
lern that your are still in good
helth your letter found me in good
health and again in the foresaken
State of Verginia and on the banks
of the mutch dreded Rapehanac
river. well in the first place I must
State that I was mutch pleased
to lern from your last letter
that you are Still able to
Stand a days cradeling I had
thought you was rather oald
for Sutch work.
I was alsow pleased to lern
that Mr Tobias had ben

taken home and buryed
as I have no peticular news
to acquaint you of at the
present time I suppose you
will have to be Sadisfied with
a Short letter. but haint
that a good joke on betsey
Tombs. tell her She Shall
call it after me fore
Shure ore Some other general
and tell her She Shall
pull him up as soon as
possable and Send him down
here to help kill the Johnneys
and eat oald mrs Lincolns

I will alsow State that
D Thompson is well and
sends his compliments to

why Michael and Frankline
dont write to me anny more
