Norfolk City june 28 1865
Dear wife I set down this evening
to write you another letter hopeing
this will reach you soon and find
you and the Childern in good heth
I am thankful I Can state to you
I am well I hope you may injoy good helth
when this comes to hand I had no
letter since the one dated june the 15 I look for
one friday or saturday and I hope to
here you are still well good health
above all things to day still finds us
here in Norfolk and I dont know
how long we may haf to stay it may not
be long and it mite be a good while
your letter wishes to find me starting
home that you hope to see me before
long my Dear wife I hope that God
will soon answer our desire that has
benn long prade for that I may soon
return home to my dear wife and
Childern that look anchious for me to
return home to them

I know you have offered many
prayers to God for mee to return
home safe to you I have also prade
daily for you and the Childern
that God wood take Care of you and
take me home to you to leeve you
no more may God soon answer hour
prayers that we have long looked for
I still hope the dark Clouds will be
removed and light may shine on hour
home rode I still think it will not
be long enny more till hour turn
will come it is sed all volentiers is
to be discharged and we think that
will take us in I have wrote to
D Aurandt to pay 8 dollars more
on that Gold speculation I see by
some papers that Fouse got from
home that stock holders must double
thare shairs or loose what they had
first pade they say stock holders may
double thare shears by paying 2 dollars
for one shear then I must pay 8 dollars

that will make us 8 shears in
all if he sends the money he
must have that receipt you have
at home that is to be sent along
to have the whole amount intered on
the one paper I rote to him to attend
to it and wood pay him when I Come
home if he thought thare was nothing
rong in the mater I dont like to loose
the Chance of that we did pay and
I thought we wood give 8 more and run the risk
if you think so you may know more
abot it then I doe whatever you think
best that you decide on
Betsey has ben with you over night
for Company I hope the time may
soon Come that I Can be Company for
you some night if I Can one night I shall
not want to leeve the next morning
I see the 4 of July will Come before we
get home I think we must go back to
the 4 of August and hope to get
home till that time if sooner so

I got a letter some time ago from
Harrison Benson he states they are all
well but Mother she has benn porely
she was some better when he wrote to me
I think the letter is in that pack
I sent home I wrote to him the
other day to know how she is by
this time you want me to bring
my Close all home and ware them
home I will if you request it I wood
like to ware them home verry soon
the sooner the better for me and
I know I Cant Come two soon for
you we must still have good faith
God will bring all things wright in
the right time I know we oftimes
feel like giving up in dispare but we
must Continue in prayer all things
will work together for hour good
you must take good care of your self
dont work too hard or lift heavy
you know how to take Care of your
but I feel uneasy dont think eany
harme of me telling you so often
Martha and Emma will deu the hard
work for you and Elisa and Ellie will
deu the house work and Mother Can
rock her self in the big Chair

sadsfaction they are badly spelt and wrote
