Dear Husband At home Sunday Evening july 2nd 18
I sit down this evening to drop you a few
lines we are all well at this time and hope you are well
I received your letter yesterday it was a welcome letter I was
glad to hear you was well our paper says the 14th regiment
are coming home as soon as they can be mustered out there was
great rejoicing among the children it was the last we thought
of at night and the first in the morning Martha is at
home now and Emma has come home too I am going to keep
them at home I will send one to help Mamma Fouse when
she needs one in harvest you need not be uneasy about my
working out or doing too much of my own work I intend
to take it as easy as I can from this out the children are
very kind and do all in their power to help me along
the day after tomorrow is the 4th of July there is
great fixing here to go I am helping making the flags
Garner is taking his hay wagon and six or eight horses
of course they will fix good seats on it Martha and
Emma will go I think the other two and myself
will stay with Mamma Fouse I was offered a
seat in the carriage I thought I would feel better
at home it is going to be a grand time if you
was here I would certainly go they have sent
men to harris burg for artillery and music
it seems to me I would like to see it but I will
wait till you come home that will do best for me

Dear Fleet I sit down this evening to finish my letter
I am well I have worked hard to day ad fell tired
I was making a vest to go to the celebration and finishing
a large flag and a great many other things I will not go
nor the children either it would be a dangerous place for
children who have no one to take care of them so you need
not feel uneasy about that Martha was washing Emma was
churning Elisa is taking care of clappers baby Ellie was nursing
danny the folks have not cut any grain although it is
dead ripe they have a good deal of hay to make
yet Adam says you can have hay and fodder but
he must haul it in his barn till our roof is fixed
our cow is in good pasture now she is doing fine I
am making some good butter for you I look for
you in two or three weeks or a month at the longest
there nothing new to write to you when you come home
we will talk about a great many things I can hardly
wait till I see you I guess there will none of us sleep
much for awhile when you come hom the children
talk of nothing else now I hope we wont be disappointed
I wish to send this letter to williamsburg tomorrow as it
is late I must soon close I could say much more
but I must wait till my next perhaps I may see
you soon then we will talk it all over we still pray
much for you ant trust he will hear and answer our
prayers you must keep in good heart it will soon be all
right dont forget to pray for us and yourself keep in good
