Dear wife
I thought I would write
you a fiew lines to let you know that
I am still in the land of the living
I cant say I am well for I Have got
the Diarea pretty Bad I was taken
yesterday morning I went to the doctor
this morning and got some medi
cine and I guess it will straighten
me up in a day or two you complained
in the last letter I got that I dident
write you Said you Hadent got no
letters for nearly a month I dont
know why it is for I allways
write three or four letters a week
unless I am where I cant when we
are on a march or annything of that
kind there is no chance of writing
But when we are in camp I allways
write Verry [???????????????] [1]

if you would write as often as I do
I would get more letters than I do
you can write Every day just as
well as not and I wish you would
send me more Postage Stamps for I
cant get Enough no way I can fix it
the news is that we are Going to leave
Here on the 10th and march towards
Richmond along with Shermans
forces I dont know How true it is
But I Have no doubt but it is so for
I think our forces will close in
around Richmond and compell
them to come out and fight us or
Starve the news is Here in camp
that Lee and Grant Has Had a fight
I dont know How true it is
well mimy we Have Ben Put Back
in the 10th Army Corpse again so
after this you will Be Shure and direct

Fortress monroe Either I guess

Corpse for the 24th corpse is in
Virginia I guess all that is

if we Have to march from Here to
Richmond Bt land it will Be a Hard
march for its nearly two Hundred
miles and the sun shines verry
Hot I dont know what we will
do in July and august for its

if you can get a lot of Peach trees
and get them set out this spring

Writing too often nor too Long
letters for the more the Better
if you knew How we watch the
mail for letters you would
write oftener than you do
