Raleigh May 2nd 1865
Dear wife
I am well and I Hope you
are all the Same I thaught Being that
I Had time I would drop you a fiew lines
I dont often get anny from you But
I will give you some trouble to Read
what I send you if you wont write
To me I dont know as there is anny
news to Tell you we are Encamped in
the same place we was when I wrote
before not much to do Except drill
we Have fixed our camp up nice we
Have planted Evergreen Trees Each side
of our company streets with arches
and Everything nice we Have plenty
of pretty good water or Rations Has
Ben Rather Short we Have Had to Buy
part of our Living and lived pretty
Poor at that But 4 corps Has left Here and
I guess we Shall get more Rations

in a fiew days our cops and the
23rd corps are to stay Here and I suppose
we will Have to stay our Time our Before
we get sent Home its a Bitter Pill but
I suppose it must be taken we must
stay until they will let us come Home
you must get someboddy to make
Garden for you and do the Best you
can until I come Home plant plenty
of onions and cabbage and Tomatoes
So I can Have something good to Eat
its awful to think that we must stay
Here and Eat Hard Tack 4 months longr
But what is the use fifing that dont Help
it anny Tell Chet He kneedent
be afraid to write To us we wont
hurt Him He dont write once a
month But maby He is dead
I dont Hear from Him letely
we will get a mail tonight I guess
and I may get a letter from Home

I want you to write me a good long
letter and Tell me all the particulars
Tell me if they are working at the
Boston and if the same stableboss
is there yhet and who is Boss now
and what the wages is and Give us
the particulars Generally Tell me
if you got that money from Curtis
or not it was due last december
and if you want it you Better see
Him you never Said weather you
got that Songbook or wilmington
Paper and I Have sent you two
Raleigh papers did you get them
But I must close for this time
you must write often and direct
as Before dont forget 10th army
corps Washington or Fortress Monroe
Either one I guess its no difference
Which I Remain as Ever your
