Camp near stafford Corthouse
Deer Brother
i resieved your letter on the 10
i haint got one from you sins
chrismas i rote you fore beside
that one well i am prety well at
present an i hope these few lines
will find you the same you
nead not talk about mud up
there nore bad wether fore there
aint been a clean day sins new
years an now it is nothing but
mud – mud – mud all the time
the wagons cannot get along nore
any thing els the way the roads
is i dont no how much longer
the rods is agoin to be mudy if it
dont clear of sometime prety soon
we will not be able to get home
when our time is out we are about
goin out of activ servis now

we are not in kaines brigaid
any more an i dont think we
will be brigaided again fore our
time of servis is to short
an this regiment was to be in the
stat of pennsylvania ten days
before the time is out.
Well Isaac i supose there is
goin to be a nother draft again
i supose they are a goin to put
the nigers in to it this time
i dont no how that will work
fore a niger has to stand around
out here if they dont no there
place they are soon shed [1] it
but it is nothing but a nigers
war an so let the nigers fight
as well as the wite [people?]
fore they are getting to larg any
way fore there oan good and
maby if they put them in to
fighting it will cool them down

a little i supose they
are making preprations fore
another attact on fredricks burg
again if they do better than
they did the first time they had
better let it alone fore they killed
enough of men there the first
time to do tell mother to
send me some paper an stamps
an anvalops fore i want to
rite John a letter an have
nothing to do it with
well i must close my letter
by asking you to rite soon
