such a climet it is hard to
keep clear of cold I got
your letter dated the 30th

that you was well I have had
some fears about the hooping

-dren are having it very light

you said Mr. Barnes was going
to move back to his house
I expected he would stay with
you until next month but
if he goes pay him of[f] and
let him go but you will
have a fine job of it doing
the chores perhaps will be
just as well of without him
as with if he dont look
after the things
If Stockholem has bought
the hay that was in the waggon
house for 2 ½ tons he need not
write to me about it for I
think he done well enough
in the trade besides I expect
Ed will do as he thinks best
in whatever he does try and
take good cair of the old
cow give her a little more
grain if that will Keep
her alive you said it was

been a great deal of snow

weeks there was six inches of
snow last night and it is
very cold to day You will
see that we have moved from
Union Mills to Centerville it is
a nice laying country but it
is all cut up with rifle pits
and forts Centerville itself

houses here that was built
before Columbus discevered
America all of the building
has been torn down for some
purpose we dont expect to
stay here long if we should
get orders to go to our Regt in two
days I should not be serprised
if we are ordered to report our
selvs at Head quarters tomorrow
[Page 4]
If we got to the Regiment
we expect to see some fighting
before long the girls wanted
me to write to them again well
I should like to see them and

be home before long I want
them to be good girls until

I want them to read there
books evry day I want Webb
to try and make himself
useful around to in helping
