Dear Father & Mother & Sister
I take this oppertunity of writ-
ting you a few lines to let you now that I
received your kind letter last night and
was glade to hear from you that you are
all well fore my part I am getting along
as well as I can concidrening the wether it
is very hot hear now and cold in the
eveings and as I have bin setting up for
this two weeks past with the sick it makes
me sleepy and it makes a body feal bad so that
I cant write Well there is not much news hear
Old Joe Hoocker is a croos the river a gain and
trying what they can do with them again
see if they can driven him back again their was
a man dided in my ward last night that was wounded
and got the fever with it and it killed him his
wound was all heald up and well he is the 4th
one out of 5 brothers that had got killed by this
ware his name was Wm Watkens he has
one brother in the same Regt that he was in
that is the 148th their is not any thing new
hear to write to you about so I will have
to cut it off short by sending you some money
to you to take care for me and the nex time
I will send you my likeness to you if
I can get so some of you that have not got
it I will get it with my dress coat on

Send it to in a day or so I will send you $30.00
Dollers to you in this letter and a Doller for
some poste stamps so I will have to stope
writting and you must Excuse the bad writting
for I have wrote it in a herrey so good by
to all of you and give my love to all the
girles and Mrs Apple and all of the rest
of my Friends so good by to you all
