Camp Near Stevensburg Dec 29/63

Dear Father & Mother & Sisters
I take my pen in hand
to write you a few lines to let you
now that I received your Kinde
letter this morning and was
glad to hear from you all that
you are well at presant
Well I am getting a good bit
better than I was I had a
very harde time of it for a
while I was in bed for 5
Days but I am out of it again
and over to my Regt a gain
I got sent to my Regt
again for I was so sick that
I could not tend to my Hoarse
so they got a nother man to do
it and then I had to go to
my Regtment again so

I am at my compney and very
near ready to tuty a gain
Well there is not much news
hear now but the furlows
are stoped without they real-
iste and them they get one
for 35 Days but I cant see
the point of relisten for a
furlow so that puts a stop
to me comming home this
winter for I wounte reliste
for a nother 3 years they got
me once and if they get
me in the trap again it
will be my fault without
I cant helpe my selfe any
other way. Well the boys
had a very good Chrismas of it
for being out hear nothing to get
but I was sick in bed all Day
but I am prity well again

for it is so dark that I cant see
So give my love to all of my
Friends So my love to you
all and write soon
