my Dear wife
i have just
receved your letter
dated the 17 Sept
it is now the
30th of Sept so
yow se wee hav bin
very bad of[f] for maling
letters fore we hav bin on
the gow all the time
i thought i must answer
it right away so i
wright a few lines to
let yow now that i
hav receved it and that
we are all well and
in good spirets we left
porte tobacco on satturdy
and stopt at scatteway
till sunday at noon
and arived at camp

so you se we hav
not had much time
to spare we are under
marching orders now
we dare
not gow out of camp
fore fear that thay
will moove wille we
are away we went
out on sunday and
when we came in
thay had gon but we
caught them thay had
got three [2] miles we
are about eight [3] miles
from washingtone we
expect to gow to
washington or verginnia
but donte now how
soon i shall wright
agane in a few days

we are at as we expect to
muve every minet we are
attached to Sickles bregade
now and hav bin marching
witch one of the rigments
but i donte now wethr
we will stay with them
or not i want you to
answer this letter more
perticler then any of the
rest and let me now
weather you got them
three news papers i
sent the other day
i think we shal get
our letters more reguler
you say gorge eliat
is going with
cardewell but i think
he never will stand
it on a march but

cant get away cavulry
is easer then infentry
but that is hard a nuf

we are dowing first
rate and are prettey
well satisfide we
dont like our officers
any to well our
grub is nouthing to
brag of be times
