my dear wife
i take the pleasure
of wighting a few
lines to let you
now that we are
all well hoping this
will finde you all
the same it is now
clearing of[f] after a
terebale wet storme
of twentey fore
houres harde raning
we ware verey
near drouned out
sum of them had
thair tents bloun
down in the midle
of the night while

the rane was coming
down in torents
but the boys stood
it till morning
it has bin a miserable
sunday it being so
mudday we harley
now when sunday
cums hear i was
just out side of
the camp when i
heard the tone of
the church bell
wich gave me to know
that it was sunday
it put me in mind
of olde times
I got your letter
and tribune last
night we get new
yorke papers

tribune this morning
we get washingtone
papers hear everey
day but the others
only comes once and
a wile we expect
to be pade in a
few days i hope
you will not get
tight when we get
pade of
we hav not herd
of them things
yet I am killing
two birds with
one stone by sending
this letter as my
stamps hav run
out i beged this
