Dear wife sisters and Brothers i now take the
pleasure of wrighting
a few lines hoping thay
will finde you all well
as thay leave us all at
present I receved your
kinde letter dated
the 12 in and was glad
to hear from you
the weather hear is verey
disegreble it has bin
raning snowing and
haling it is snowing
hear now it is verey
colde also it makes
it bad fore our
troopes to travel

we do not drill much
hear now as the weather
is not fit to drill
mounted we drill saber
and cabline drill on
foot we hav bin working
on fetig worke that is
on the stables and such
like worke we hav
bin dooing to much
of that kinde of worke
the men is gitting
tired of it thay
say that thay came
to fight not to dig
mud thare has bin
a good deal of dissatesfacshon
since our new capten
came he has bin verey
strict if he had kept
as he started the

men would hav all
run a way he wanted
to seperate all the
men that is all the
frendes put sum in
one tent and sum
in another that would
put onley two ore thre
of us to geather but
the men stuck to geather
and was not willing
to stant it we expected
thare would be sum
truble about it but
thay left it drop as
it was that is left
us as we ware
he says he donte want
the men to get to
get to frendley I
do not now how he
will turne out

hear of them deathes
I am verey sorey to hear
you say you hav go
in the mill i donte no
what you hav bon in
for I want you to
keepe you sperites up
i think it will no t
be so long before we
will all be home agane
I hope we shall hear
some good news before
this weeke is out from
our fleete we are verey
