Dear wife sisters
and Brother I take
this opertunity of wright
a few lines to you
hoping thay will finde

you all well as thay
leave us all at present
I receved your kinde
and welcome letters dated
the 6 and 13 this morning
and was glad to hear
that you ware all well

I also receved Richard
kinde letter I am sorey
to hear that the olde
man is not so well
i hope he may be
our boys has some warme
worke with the enemey

thay had quite a lively
time these last two
night last night at
twelve 12 oclock it was
kept up fore some
time it then cease
till two 2 oclock I

thought thare would
be a general engage
ment but it seased
fore the present one
big gun is heard to
fire everey little but
I nowe not how our
men made out but
that the rebles ware
driven back the rebles
are verey anoing to our
men as thay want to
draw our men on
over infintrey was drawn
up in line of battle
twiste last night

our men are throwing
up earthe works but
the rebles wants to stop
them our men are
kept verey buisey
building fortes everey
night as that is the onley
chance thay hav I
hav the opion that
everey thing is working
fore the best we
had a verey large
male brought in last
night but the letters
ware not given out
till morning i was on
garde last night when
the fighting was gowing
on I beleve thare was
several wounded this weke
that non was wounded
acedental that Richard
spoke of verey slight
