you hoping thay will
finde you all well as
thay leave us all at
present thare is nouthing
unusel gowing on hear
at present but how long
we may be quiet i will
not say the rebles still
continue to throw shot
and shell in our lines
thay threw quiet a number
yesterday after noone
our boys thought the
ball had opened as thay
ware pretey sharpe

mc clelan hed qurters some
of our boys ware out
thare as ordleys thay brought
us word what the firing
was we are so fare
back in the woods that
we can not se aney thing
we are three and 3½ half
miles from yorke town

rebles workes I expect

hear that the seadge has
commenced we are alike

Bill campbell tolde
me that it was rumerd

lost i do not know
how such tales as them

letter from his mother
a few days agow
