Dear Wife I
take the opertunety
of writing a few
lines to you I
hope thay will
finde you all
well as these few
lines leaves us at present
We hav bin out
on scout fore ten
days we got in camp
last night I think
that we ware sent

out to giv the
rebles a chance to go
in Penselvania as we
had harley got away
before thay past
thrue clear spring
ware we had bin
Picketing the day
before we ware
in verginia when word
came to us that the
rebles had crost over
the Potomac we ware
right opiset old town
Maryland ware i
posted a letter fore
you wich i hope
you hav got before
this

orders came to
us at old town on
friday night we ware
got up at two o cloc
to get readey to move
on saturday morning
we then went to han
coock and incamped
fore the night we
then got readey to moove
next morning in the
direction of pensilvania
we incamped in the
old huston two nights
the peaple up thare
could not do enough
fore us but it was
harde to satesfie a
set of hungrey soldiers
like we 1500 [handes?]

We left Mcconelsburg
PA on tuesday morning
came thrue Messersbury
but in time to seane
rebles I think the govern
goverment ought to
keep troops at ore
man those town
Dear wife you must
not get uneasey about
us becase you get no
letters I write when ever
I can mail one fore
you I think that i
ought to get uneasey I
hav not receved a letter
since thatyours of the sep 18
giv my respects to all
I wish uncle Sam would
pay us your affectnate
