My Dear wife I
tak this opportunty
of writing a few lines
to you I hope thay will
find you all well as
thay leave mee at present
I was to late fore the
Boat on tuesday morning
I was wating fore that
other man but he has
not com yet I left
washington yesterday
morning and got at
the landing at 12 o
clock I got thair in
time fore the Boat
our men whare all
leaving thare in a boat

we are now laing
about one mile from
the creek we only
lay hear last night
expting to gow to the
old camp near falmouth
the rigment is at waring
ten junction i am told
thare is one brigade of
u S cavalry left at
Dumfries in our plase
I think Provost duty
Plade out fore mee
I never had to show
my Pass once the
hole time i was away
I do not know how
i will mail this letter
i will write agane
in a day ore two
we left dumfries landing
at 2 o clock
