My Dear Wife
I take this oppotunety
of writing a few lines
to you hoping thay will
find you all well
as thay leave us at
Present The weather has
bin veary fine these last
few days it has bin cold
and [law?] to day

Dear Wife I hav just
received your Kind letter
dated 16th and am glad to
hear that you are all
right again thank god
fore that

with two stamps in and
two slips of paper I
shall be looking out
fore one of those chances
when i get out of uncel
sams servise you say
when uncel sam pays
you will gow to town
I am glad to hear that
if you will not get
sick again uncell sam
did pay a few days
agow and one man sent
you twenty five 25.00 dollers
By adems express i hope
you hav got it by this
time i sent it on the
eighteenth 18 of this month
that is not the bounty
uncle sam is gowing to
send you he will send
that all at once $100 dollers

unusel hear all is
quiet hear at Present
how long thay will
remain so time alone
will tell every thing seams
to be geting in redeness

that Gen Mead is gowing
to moov his head Quarters
to culpepper we shall
not moove with out

thay are laying in plenty
of fresh beaf we hav
now got over five thousand
5000 head of cattell on hand hear
that is more then ever
thay hav had at aney
one time in the armey
of the Potomac thay are
ordering all the [batery?] to
the rear

I do not know whar
thay are gowing to but

home I see one of walters
with a peace in about
