Saratoga april the 12th 1864
Dear Mother I wrote you
a letter about a week a
go but i didnt have a
post age stamp to put on
it but i put soldiers
letter on it and sent it
but i dident know wether
you got it or not so i
thought i would write you
a few lines to let you no
that i am well and hope
these few lines will find
you the same. tell lucy that
that letter she sent by
me to put in the pos ofice but i
forgot to put it in.
and took it clear to troy
before i thought of it so i
put it in there so i
guess that [ ell?] has got it
by this time. some of the

ridgement expects to get
paid off to day but i
dont know wether they
will or not but if they
do they expect to go off
thursday but i dont know
wether i will go or not.
harvy wilber has deserted
because they wouldt give
him a furlow but i guess
i will stop writing with
a pen and write the rest
in pencil the paper
hant good for nothing.

tell Hev to write to
me. write to me and tell
me how Jake is getting a
long. there has been
about 8 hundred in this
ridgement and there about
4 hundred deserted so i guess
that this ridgement wont
get filled up very soon.
but i dont know as i can
think of any more this
time so good by for this
time write as soon as you
get this direct your
letter to saratoga
springs
