deer wife and child i take this
opertunity of riting a few more lines
to you hoping they will find you
in good health as they leave me in
good health at present i
have now Joined the army of the
potomack and am at the front of
petterburg i should have rote to you
before but i did not have time So you
must excuse me this time Steve and
Jud lee is at the ospital and i have
not sen them ihave seen harison
underwood and shook hands with
him and many other old aquainances
ihope those few lines will find you in good
health and spirits to it is no youse
of wining about those things i think
this thing will come to a close now
but i thought so last winter
and i think so again but i may
bee mistaken but this is what i
think turn out as it will

ridgement is coming back to
the defencis of washington and
i wish they would i [h]ad rather
be there as hear i must come to a
close and i will rite to you a
gain as soon as convient with my
best respects to you and my little
girl and all inquiring friends
