[1] July the 16 1865
Deer wife i take the opertunity of riting
to you hoping that those few lines will
find you in good health as it leaves
me at present i receveid your letter on
the 15 all right with the three stamps
and the Dollar and was very glad to
hear that you ad got the things all right
and now i will tell you wat i ad in
the box i ad one overcoat and the cape
was cut of it and laid in their and
boots and a new shirt two pairs of drawers
and a woollen blanket and your likness
and the little girls them pants is edges
and i sent a letter the same time
with a receit in it and another one
since and i would to know if you got
them or not the news hear are none
that i know of so i cannot tell
you any their is a rumer that we
are going to get paid this week but

i cannot tell how true it is if
we do you will know it very soon
i got the little girls letter but
could not make it out very well
i but i hope to bee ware i can
make it out soon my letter is not
very long but i have rote two
letters and as not heard from either
of them and will rite again when
i hear from this i did not delay
long on this at any rate wat ever
i have done to others but let the
past go and do better for the time
to come i must conclude for this
time at present so no more from
your husband Francis P

bee at home by the fourth
but we all slipped up on
that
