Vicksburg Miss March 27th /63
Dear Mother Co E 4th Miss Reg
I take my pen in hand
for the first time in lif to let
you know I am well and fatning
every day. I have not joind the
regment yet but I expect to join
to morrow. There is no posible chance
to get a discharge now you must
not expect me home soon. I want you
to send Sip down to cook and wash
for me Jonce is sick and has bin
for some time so we send him home.
I dont think I will see home aga-
in soon. I think I will stand it
finely. Mother you must not be un-
easy about me if I gets sick I will
write to you as soon as I am taken
and if I write that I am sick you
must send Cosin Tom down to see me
You must send Sip down to Capt

Palmers on next sunday so he can
take the cars on monday morning
Dock [will?] Ray will bring him down
You must get Mr Nelson to take
him down to Winona and tell him
to call at Mr Holomons and get with
Ray. Iif Ray does not come you must
give him (Sip) a pass and $5 dollars and he
can come through by him self.
If you Shair the sheep before I get
home you will find the shairs in my
trunk. You mist not fail to send
Sip right away and you must send
me some butter and soap by Sip
if he can bring it. You must write
me whethe John got home safe and
what time he got home and if he
got Elizas plows. Tel Ellen she must
write to me Sister Bat must write to me
Brother John sends his love to all
give my love to all and believe
me as ever you son. Knight.
