Camp Chase August 29th 1864
Dear mother
I write you a few
lines to let you know that I have
been well since I have been here
John Berry Hugh Beard Frank [beard?]
Jerry Troxol Mr Elliot William Miller
and The Boys who are from Rockbridge
are all well. we are getting along
verry well Have good quarters and
good rations. I have received Two letters
from Lucian, he was well, was in
state service when he wrote last
I rec’d a letter from Ezra [1] which was
written August 2nd he had not been very
well for some time but was getting better
Tell Ellen that I received a letter from her
Cousin Mary C Bratton they were all
well John Berry heard from Thomas Harris
in Illinois they were all well. Tell John
R Berry to let Mr Beard know that Hugh
is well he will write next week as we
write time about

whether you have heard from us or not
for we have all written and have not
heard from home Since we have
