Pulaski County July 8 . 1863
Dear daughter I wish this morning
to write you afew lines to let
you no we are yet in the land
of the living for which reason
we [out?] bee thankfull god fore
his mercy to ward us we are
not well here. nor have not
ben sense I came from your
House I recevd your kind
Letter about the first of July
amd was Glad to hear from you
and your Health I have nothing
perticular to write to you we
have ben very dry here tell now
our oats and flax is Short corn
has begun to grow some now it
has rained for 5 or six days so I am
afraid it will be bad about
giting my wheat an rye up
it is now rip I cant hire
n body to Cradle there is no body
to get I think my wheat is
good and riye our harvest is
later than usual

you wrote to me saying Confederate
was said would not pay tax
nor pass after august I do not no
my Self I have herd some say any
that was Ishued before April
1863 would not pay tax but
have not herd it would not pass
after August for other debts
you had better inquire more
about it for I am not prepared
to Say how it well be ther is
aletter I Receivd from S [???]
to let you see also I got one
from Robert yesterdy they was
well and in penn sylvania
also I have got two others from
J B be fore this sense I saw you
one letter had seventy $ 20 in
it sent to me for you I shall
try to day to write to J B & [?]
write to me shortly do the

try to do the same
